Chapter 9 Launching Your Website

Creating web pages can be great fun. It’s relatively easy to learn (compared to brain surgery and rocket science, at least)—and you can experiment until your heart’s content with little more than a standard computer and some fiendishly good typing fingers. Spend as little or as much time as you like building and viewing web pages, but remember: in the end you’ll have to make these babies “live” on the Internet. How you achieve this—including the tools you’ll need to make it happen—is the subject of this chapter. Let’s begin by reminding ourselves of some of the basics of the Internet and how it’s possible to see all these lovely web pages.
