Preparing Our Home Sweet Home: Part 2

Optimization in the world of video games is fundamental. If we do not do this task, the user experience will be terrible, even if we have good hardware. In the previous chapter, we learned how to design a scene with all the details: the sky, the buildings, the sidewalks, the ground, the trees, and even a fountain – everything we designed from scratch.

Throughout the following pages, we will learn what techniques Unity offers us to improve performance. You will be surprised to see how with a few simple processes, we gain FPS and rendering speed. Then, we will do our first write operation in the Firestore database.
