In this chapter, the authors identify the need for an Information Assurance Program (IAP) — one that will enhance the ability of an organization to achieve its operational, technological, and business continuity objectives. The conceptual design phase determines the appropriate IAP solution, defines the basic goals of the program, and defines a high-level project work plan. The Information Assurance Master Planning Process reflects the first steps of the conceptual design phase.
