Blogging is all about having a conversation, but that doesn’t mean that your blog has to be a free-for-all. TypePad has tools that allow you to manage comments and trackbacks, as well as create a blacklist of words and addresses that aren’t allowed in your blog.

Comments are both boons and busts for blogs. On the boon side, many people met their significant others in the comments section of a blog (including my blog, though I met my own wife at a blogger meetup). On the bust side are the scourges of the blogosphere—comment spam and jerks—which can ruin a perfectly good comments section.
