Packaging a Site to Be Hosted Externally

Not all developers deploy .NET Web applications in a corporate environment. Applications may be co-located on rented server space or some other offsite location. In these cases, it is unlikely that Application Center 2000 will be available for deployment.

As a developer, you have a few options when it comes to these scenarios. For simple .NET applications, files can simply be copied to an appropriate directory via FTP, as mentioned before. For more complicated applications, a packaged deployment might be the best way to go.
