Red chair

You sit on my deck

nothing moves you.

Neither the wind nor the rain

You are always there,

a quick dust and you stand

beautiful again,

colour vibrant against the woods.

Ready to comfort.

To hold me while I think

about possibility

about the nature of good

You offer up small wonders

A squirrel darting by

A butterfly hovering for a moment

A hummingbird drawn to your arm

You teach me to listen, to watch,

I am your willing student, open booked, eager.
