Chapter 13. Getting to Know Power Pages

In May 2022, Microsoft introduced Power Pages, a brand-new product to further expand the Power Platform. The goal of Power Pages is to allow you to create low-code websites that can be accessed outside of your business. If you’re familiar with sites like Wix that allow you to build your own sites, it’s similar to those. Power Pages has a familiar feel to it. If you have experience creating pages in Microsoft SharePoint and modifying their layout, you should feel comfortable with Power Pages.

Power Pages lets you build modern websites that work well on all devices, including mobile devices, with little to no help from professional developers. It starts by providing you with templates to choose from. During the preview, the templates are very limited, but developers will be able to create their own templates as well. With Microsoft Dataverse, you will be able to create pages that use your business data.

Power Pages is considered an evolution of Power Apps portals; it provides a new low-code designer that improves the experience for solution designers. Since Power Pages is built on Power Apps portals, I chose not to cover Power Apps portals in this book. In this chapter, we will take our first look at Power Pages. I’ll show you how to set it up, and how to start adding components and content to your pages.
