Chapter 6. Taps vs. Clicks: Basic Event Handling
In 1984, the Macintosh was the first widely adopted platform with a graphic interface. The original Macintosh came with a tour of the interface, which included a little game called Mousing Around to teach users how to use a mouse.
In 2007, when Apple introduced the iPhone, which I would consider the first modern touch device, it didn’t include a game explaining how to use the touch interface. Humans understand instinctively how touching something can affect it. With a mouse it takes a while to get used to the idea that moving one thing can effect change on another. With touch, we use skills we’ve had since we were toddlers.
