Performance testing and debugging

After World War II several new religions cropped up around the South Pacific. Inspired by the canned food, tools, and other supplies air-dropped by Allied and Japanese forces, indigenous people imitated the behavior of the foreigners, building landing strips, imitation planes, and items of technology. They also practiced military drills as ritual, all in the hope that the cargo would return. These religions are generally referred to as “cargo cults.”
