3.1 Defining culture – national, organizational, and team culture

There are many approaches to examining culture. Some researchers define culture as an internalized and shared set of assumptions, expectations, procedures, and ways of doing things that have been internalized to the extent that they become taken for granted (Triandis 1972). Other definitions focus on culture as a part of who we are, of our identity that creates a sense of belonging or not belonging “the collective programming of the mind which distinguishes one group (nation, society) from another” (Hofstede 2001).
