7. App State

App state is the data associated with a user running an instance of your app. This data can be traditional document data, like a photo, spreadsheet, or text document, or it can be settings that guide the behavior of the app, like login information or account preferences. Depending on the kind of state it is, it can be stored as name–value pairs (e.g., settings) or as name–blob pairs (e.g., files). Some types of data, like the user’s login credentials or the data cached from the last time the user connected with the network, will build up over time and may even be shared among multiple devices via roaming.
