Now we will focus on how to tap into the tremendous knowledge of the people not traditionally thought of as leaders—those on the front lines.

There is deep respect in the Bible for the work people do and the wisdom behind it. Work is holy in God's eyes because He commissioned us to have dominion—to bring order out of chaos. That is the essence of what work means.

The creation narrative continues in chapter 2 of Genesis and shows that God gave Adam the assignment to take care of the Garden of Eden. This work was not a punishment; it was a direct assignment from God before any trouble emerged later in the story. Work is good and holy.

A second example is when God tells Moses to assign Bezalel (a craftsman) a role in the construction of their tabernacle. This is what He says:

I have filled him with the Spirit of God in wisdom, in understanding, in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship to make artistic designs for work in gold, in silver and in bronze and the cutoff stones for settings, and in the carving of wood….
