Just as each project has analysis and design phases, it also has a scoping phase. Scope is all about understanding what is and isn’t relevant to your project. It’s about working with your stakeholders to set clear limits and project boundaries and making sure you all remain on the same page about them.

A properly set and enforced scope is a key part of a successful project. Scoping the boundaries of a project, as well as all the elements you should address and analyze given any constraints, puts you in a better position to estimate the time and other resources the project will take. After all, you only have so many resources (time, funds, and people) with which to achieve the project’s goals.
