INTRODUCTION

Strategic management relates to military strategy as a fruit salad does to an apple. It has elements of military strategy but it is far richer and subtler. Management strategies are a lot richer and far more sophisticated than military strategies. In the military version, you either win or lose whereas in the business version all combinations are possible: win–win, win–lose, or lose–lose.
