Institutional Flight Departments

Taken by themselves, the rules, suggestions, and guidelines presented in this book will create pockets of excellence within flight departments. However, there must be a more cohesive, centering force that will enable an on-demand flight department to succeed. This largely undefined force comes from both the experience and insight of those managing the operation.

Most flight departments seek to and succeed at operating safely, keeping up with the flight schedule, and keeping the budget under control. In short, they do the technical stuff fairly well. But many fail at being truly superior service providers.
