Introduction

It can be rather startling the extent to which novel technologies can impact society, and more specifically, businesses. To a business entity, new tech typically solves a problem or endows the organization with some financial or operational benefit; and to the tech-savvy employee, a new technology or process improvement can represent an exciting liberation from the drudgery of antiquated systems. Such a person will be apprehensive and fearful—rightly so—that failure to adapt could culminate in underperformance and ultimately threaten their job security.
