Having selected the most appropriate solutions to deal with the risks identified, it is time to put them into practice. In the past, the favored mantra has always been “Keep the bad guys out.” This appears to be changing somewhat, since the new approach is one of “Detect and destroy” instead. However, it should always be remembered that while this approach may work in some environments, others such as critical infrastructure systems still require the old and trusted ways as well.
