Definitions and concepts
Dominant authors in the first stage of business model research are typically already highly cited authors in related fields such as innovation (Henry Chesbrough), strategy (Michael Porter) and management (David Teece) and so might have a greater chance of being cited. They typically focus on the relations between the business model and their own fields of interest and use this to define the concept through similarities and differences. A good example of this is Magretta’s (2002) account of the relationship between business models and strategy.
