The next important step in building an executable strategy is to break the measures down into specific actions. The objective here is to translate the strategy into detailed, implementable actions to be executed on‐site.

Beyond the Possibility: Feeling and Determining

At some point, you may start to have doubts about the feasibility of the strategy, no matter how carefully you have built it to suit your need. As you try to visualize the actual execution and turn it into actions, you will start thinking, “Can this really be done?” or “How are we going to do this?” You might also find everyone agreeing to the strategy in general but disagreeing on the details of it.

But this is an unavoidable process, and only by overcoming such obstacles, you will be able to put a “soul” into the strategy in the true sense of the word. It's actually dangerous to come up with the required actions without questioning their feasibility. A true pie in the sky like this is often the case when the planning section doesn't have the frontliners’ knowledge. Also, if the strategy itself is a simple extension of the current situation, the actual outcome may not be as effective.
