Questioning the Mission and the Value Proposition

The prime question that must be dealt with is, “What are we really in business to do?” All other choices will emanate from this answer. It’s the root of the traceability tree.

The mission of the organization succinctly describes what the organization is striving to do. For example, at the Process Renewal Group, our mission statement reads

The Process Renewal Group is a consulting organization committed to helping its clients successfully manage business change. Our mission is to help dramatically improve our clients’ performance through the renewal of business strategies and business processes as well as the innovative application of information technologies.
