Overall Tricks and Traps for the Renew Phase
A lot of the information gathered and analyzed in this phase and the previous Understand phase might become unwieldy to coordinate and manage through conventional recording means. Databases, word processors, and simple graphic drawing packages don’t help much beyond the first entry, due to typical changes in cross-referencing, synchronization, and impact analysis. Consider a process modeling toolkit built on an integrated repository to manage this information.
It can be tempting throughout this phase to come up with one solution and do everything possible to make sure that it sells by ignoring alternatives and pushing one view. Be careful that this doesn’t occur. Give management a choice.
