There is consensus that higher education must help prepare students to address grand social and environmental challenges, as exemplified by the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Leadership and political will are essential in addressing the SDGs (United Nations, 2016) and as such, leadership development should be a critical component of sustainability education.
