The More that Things Change, the More We Must Depend Upon Those Things That Never Change
This is perhaps the principle I repeat more than any other on my radio show. While there are things that change extensively, constantly, and perpetually, there are also things that remain constant, like these biblical secrets, for instance. They comprise ancient Jewish wisdom and are God's biblical blueprint. They are unfaltering. And we may lean on them in the face of change.
And change we will face. Change is ubiquitous. It seems to be accelerating in the modern world. These days we see change that is more rapid and profound than we have ever seen before in recent history. When is the last time you saw a working pay-phone booth? Or a phone with a dial? When we say phone, we tend now to think of cell phones, not home phones. This may surprise some readers, but a majority of young people no longer have a landline at all, and use only their cell phones. Those are nice changes—the progress of technology, which has been going on forever. You can date a photograph down to the decade just by looking at it and examining the buildings, cars, and clothes people wear and the gadgets that they carry.
Some change is constant and forever, a slow forward march of time that seems and is ceaseless. The things that change fall into three categories and I encourage you to think of them as existing on a triangle.
