Chris and Tony arrived at Bill and Carla Johnson’s home at 6:45 pm. The house was large, newly constructed, and beautifully lit. It was already dark outside, but they could see on the car navigation that they were on the banks of the Huron River near Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Bill and Carla both greeted them at the door. Carla’s large smile and warmth made them feel like she genuinely wanted their company.
They moved into a large living area adjacent to and open to the kitchen. The outside wall facing the Huron river was filled with large windows. A gas fireplace threw off a warm ambience of light and heat.
