RENDERING BASICS

If any part of the CAD process has become irreplaceable it is the perspective and visualization capabilities of CAD. We can now simulate and test the aesthetic qualities of our design, in some cases in real time. We shouldn’t look at this media in isolation; the aesthetic skills acquired in sketching and rendering tone and colour into a drawing are important.

Artistic skill cannot be developed purely on the computer – you often see the evidence of this in computer visualizations. Remember that photo realization is not necessarily the end game; evoking the mood and atmosphere is equally important.
