One of the first things most photographers do when setting up a new camera is to customize it for their personal shooting preferences. The EOS 5D offers rich options for customizing the operation of controls and buttons and the shooting functionality both for everyday shooting and for shooting specific venues.
The 5D offers two main techniques for customizing the camera.
Custom Functions. With Custom Functions, you can customize everything from how you select an autofocus point to changing the function of camera and lens controls.
Register Camera Settings. Camera Settings, or "C" on the Mode dial, enable you to save your favorite camera and menu settings and quickly return to them by selecting the C mode.
This chapter is organized in a task flow sequence for customizing the camera starting with Custom Functions and then setting and registering a broader range of customized settings.
Exploring Custom Functions
Custom Functions enable you to customize camera controls and operation to better suit your shooting style, and, thus, save time. After you set a custom function option, it remains in effect until you change it. Some Custom Functions are handy for all shooting situations, while others are specific to different situations.
