The 2019 ATD Competency Study is a comprehensive and rigorous research project designed to identify the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) that are needed for effective performance as a talent development professional today and five years into the future. The new Talent Development Capability Model was developed using the data from that research and several other sources:
• a literature review of books, periodicals, research reports, and academic journal articles
• structured interviews with 25 thought leaders
• an occupational survey of talent development professionals.
