We saw earlier in the book how to put a very flattering light on our subjects. We learned about the different lighting patterns on the face. We also talked about how to use both on-camera and off-camera flash to create them. But, in all those instances, we were using an additional piece of equipment—our flash. What happens if we don’t have a flash to use in our lighting setup?
In this chapter, I want to talk about how to use nature’s own light to create the same beautiful lighting patterns and obtain the same flattering lighting effects on our clients.
