Slow is relative. Up to now, the moments we’ve looked at have all involved working quickly in some way, whether thinking quickly, moving quickly, or shooting quickly. Or all three together. This is pretty standard for situations which are obviously momentary. But moments can be slow, as any landscape photographer knows who has had to sit and wait for the sun or the clouds. In this last chapter I want to look at those moments that arrive and take place slowly by our normal standards of perception and experience, but are nonetheless critical for imagery.
