Longer and multiple exposures demand full image calibration and integration to improve image quality.
By now, one is starting to realize just how challenging deep-sky imaging is and the limitations of any imaging system. It is interesting to put these challenges in perspective, which makes one realize just how remarkable it is that a digital camera produces anything at all. A good deal of emphasis was placed on image noise mechanisms in previous chapters and since this is not usually a big deal in conventional photography it may seem like one is making a lot of fuss about nothing.
