RF and Stability Analyses in CNT and GNR Interconnects
5.1 Introduction
The performance of carbon nanotube (CNT) based interconnects is better than that of traditional copper-based interconnects, as we have seen in Chapter 4. There are several other works that show superiority of GNR interconnects over copper interconnects (references 16 and 17 in Chapter 3; reference 3 in Chapter 7). It is very important to investigate the high-frequency response of the CNT- and GNR-based interconnects, in addition to the timing performance of the CNT- and GNR-based interconnects. At very high frequencies, traditional interconnects experience the skin effect. The resistance and inductance increase due to the skin effect at higher frequencies.
