What exactly is a digital case study? What isn’t digital in the twenty-first century? In the introduction, I loosely referred to case study research and case studies as involving bounded systems of inquiry conducted for research purposes. A case study is a type of study, which distinguishes it from an example, exemplar, or anecdote. While case studies absolutely contain examples and granular details, they are neither examples nor stories alone. Certainly, high-quality case studies involve stories and have a narrative.
