The backbone of a successful enterprise is an efficient, well-designed network that can transport many applications and data, including high-quality voice and video, and critical application data. Bandwidth-intensive applications might stretch network capabilities and resources. Networks must provide secure, predictable, measurable, and sometimes guaranteed levels of service. Achieving the required quality of service (QoS) by managing delay, delay variation (jitter), bandwidth, and packet loss on a network is a critical task.
