IPv6 Multicast Addresses
IPv6 uses multicast IPv6 addresses for several purposes. In some cases, overhead protocols use these addresses to send packets to multiple IPv6 hosts at once. In other cases, applications use multicast addresses to send IPv6 packets to many hosts, rather than sending a different packet to each individual host.
