Over its long history, Cisco has used a few different strategies with how it manages licenses for its router and switch products. This chapter focuses on the most commonly used methods for the Cisco installed base of products at the time that Cisco released the current exams. This license method is often called PAK licensing because the licensing process uses a value called a product authorization key (PAK).
