File Systems
When planning for and installing a Windows operating system, only one choice exists for a secure installation: NTFS. FAT and FAT32 provide no file system security. You simply cannot apply permissions to files or directories under FAT and FAT32. In this section, you cover the common file systems in turn and the security implications of each.
FAT
The FAT file system, which uses a 16-bit table, is the simplest file system that is supported in a Windows and desktop environment.
