Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) Overview

This section describes Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) to make you comfortable with the practice of ISDN in general and this book in particular. Even though PPP's application reaches far beyond the realms of ISDN, this section specifically concentrates on the ISDN side of PPP.

PPP is used to frame datagrams for their transport over the link layer. It is by far the preferred protocol when it comes to encapsulation and advanced options in ISDN.
