Configuring IP Services

The next lessons teach you how to configure various IP services, including the following:

  • Configuring ICMP redirects

  • Configuring the DRP Server Agent

  • Configuring HSRP

  • Configuring IP accounting

  • Configuring NAT

Lesson 17-1: Configuring ICMP Redirects

In this lesson, you configure Ethernet 0 of R2 to disable the sending of ICMP redirects as well as ICMP unreachables. Disabling ICMP redirects has a secondary effect of also disabling the IP Path MTU Discovery (PMTU) mechanism, because PMTU depends on the router to send unreachables. Example 17-1 illustrates a possible configuration for R2 to complete this task.

Example 17-1. Disabling ICMP Redirects and Unreachables
Configuration items for R2:
R2(config)#interface ethernet 0
