Link Local Addresses
IPv6 uses both global unicast and unique local addresses for the same purposes as IPv4 addresses. Hosts use one of these types of IPv6 addresses for their interfaces, routers use one per interface, and packets use these addresses as the source and destination of IPv6 packets that flow from end to end through the network.
IPv6 also defines link local addresses: a completely new type of unicast address that is not used for normal user traffic, but is instead used for some special types of IPv6 packets.
