When creating Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) for IPv6, Cisco made the new EIGRP for IPv6 as much like EIGRP for IPv4 as possible. How close are they? Incredibly close, even closer than the IPv4 and IPv6 versions of the Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) protocol.
