Excessive Memory Utilization
Much like a PC, router performance can suffer if it lacks sufficient available memory. For example, perhaps you install a version of Cisco IOS on a router, and that router does not have the minimum amount of memory required to support that specific Cisco IOS image. Even though the router might load the image and function, its performance might be sluggish.
