Chapter 6. Cisco Network Foundation Protection
Network Foundation Protection (NPF) is a Cisco technology implemented in IOS devices to protect the Cisco network equipment from network-based threats. To implement NFP, Cisco has broken down the network devices into three planes: control plane, data plane, and management plane. Together these planes provide a methodical approach to provide protection to the core functionality of Cisco IOS-based devices.
