Chapter 4. Multicast over Wireless
IUWVN is more than just Voice over WLAN (VoWLAN), and also covers applications that are bandwidth intensive or time sensitive. Multicast traffic is a specific case, at the boundary of both worlds. (A time-sensitive application, such as VoIP, uses multicast for features like paging or music on hold; and bandwidth-intensive applications, such as video, often uses multicast to save bandwidth.) Multicast on the wireless side of the network operates differently from the way it operates on the wired side of the network. You need to understand what multicast is, where it is used in wireless, and how to configure your wireless and wired infrastructure for optimal wireless multicast support.
