Named IP Access Lists
You use the ip access-list command to configure a named IP access list as opposed to a numbered IP access list. Named access lists are used to configure reflexive access lists and context-based access control. Named access lists are entered in global configuration mode. The ip access-list command first appeared in Cisco IOS Release 11.2.
The ip access-list command takes you into access-list configuration mode, where you must define the denied or permitted access conditions with deny and permit commands. Specifying standard or extended with the ip access-list command determines the prompt and options you get when you enter access list configuration mode.
