Overview of Virtual Firewalls
With the Cisco Security Appliances, you have the ability to configure multiple virtual firewalls. Each virtual firewall has its own configuration file and its own interfaces assigned to it. With security appliances configured for virtual firewalls, it is similar to having multiple standalone firewalls. The benefit is that you have only one physical firewall (and many virtual firewalls). This saves rack space and money budgeted for devices. The following features are supported when using virtual firewalls:

Firewall features
Intrusion prevention
Management features
