This section covers add-on IP telephony applications, including the Attendant Console and IP SoftPhone. Also examined are messaging, conferencing, and call center solutions.

Attendant Console

In a PBX environment, a receptionist might need a large, bulky console with an attached 25-pair cable to manage multiple incoming calls for a department. Now, with the CCM Attendant Console, the receptionist can receive and forward a large number of incoming calls using a GUI interface. For redundancy, if a CCM server fails, the Attendant Console can fall back to a backup CCM server.
