In this recipe we will investigate the use of mailx and forward the root's e-mail to an external e-mail address of your choice in order to provide your server with a simple messaging system that can be used at any time.
E-mail capability for the root user is not activated by default and you may find it useful to ensure that this service is not only enabled, but that it is also able to issue any messages to a third-party address.
