Enterprise Architecture Concepts

The purpose of this chapter is to lay the groundwork of terminology that is used throughout the book and to provide a grasp of the fundamentals of enterprise architecture (EA). This chapter informally introduces the concepts through the prism of a hypothetical airport. Chapter 3 elaborates on Richard M. Nixon Municipal Airport, the primary case study used throughout this book.

This chapter provides a general discussion of the terms used in enterprise architecture. Specific architecture frameworks may use additional or variants of terminology unique to their scope.
