Basic Concepts for Defense Frameworks

The focus of this chapter is on the details of the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF) and related defense frameworks. We use the DoDAF as the basis for our examples in both Parts II and III of this book. We chose the DoDAF for these examples because it is one of the oldest frameworks (only the Zachman Framework is older), its views are compatible with the TOGAF and form a subset of the Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework Version 2 (FEAF2) views, and it is the basis for many other defense frameworks.
