5A Global Perspective

From 2001–2010, the television show “Scrubs” was on the air as a medical comedy-drama series that followed the lives of employees at the fictional Sacred Heart Hospital. Each episode chronicled the good, bad, funny, and ugly that happens in a hospital, with unique anecdotal daydreams and reflections by the feature character, Dr. John “J.D.” Dorian.

While Scrubs was similar to traditional sitcoms in many ways, it didn’t always cater to television viewers with a Hollywood ending. Patients consistently died, relationships ended with heartbreak, and a feeling of sadness was often present at the end of episodes.
